In a groundbreaking initiative to shed light on the often-overlooked contributions of female composers, American Gothic Performing Arts’ upcoming season's program proudly presents a tribute to the enduring legacies of Vitezslava Kaprálová and Ilse Weber in to be heard: voices of the unseen on June 9th @ 2:00pm at Bridge View Center. Tickets will be available at the door.
Inspired by a lecture recital by Murry Sidlin, founder of The Defiant Requiem Foundation, this project aims to honor these remarkable women whose works have left an unforgettable mark on the world of music and memory.
Kaprálová's illustrious career was tragically cut short by Nazi persecution, while Weber's haunting melodies provided solace amidst the horrors of Theresienstadt. Through our season's program, we invite audiences to join us in commemorating their enduring contributions to music and history.

Katharine Goeldner – Mezzo-soprano Katharine Goeldner brings her impressive international career to our stage, spanning iconic roles in operas from Strauss' "Ariadne auf Naxos" to recent portrayals of characters like Amneris, Dalila, and Herodias. With performances at prestigious venues worldwide, Goeldner's artistry promises to enrich our exploration of these forgotten composers' works.
Carol Anderson – Dr. Carol Anderson, a distinguished member of the Santa Fe Opera music staff, joins us in collaboration for this season's productions. With extensive experience as a principal coach and presenter, Dr. Anderson's expertise enhances our journey through the music of Kaprálová and Weber.
Amy Morris – Renowned flutist Amy Morris, known for her tenure with the Minnesota Opera Orchestra and extensive chamber music collaborations, adds her virtuosity to our tribute. With a career marked by performances at international venues and commissions of new music, Morris brings a wealth of experience to our exploration of forgotten musical treasures.
